What can I expect when I arrive at Onsen?
A: For guests heading to the bathhouse, you will enter through the restaurant and head down a small hallway to the bathhouse reception desk where you can check in. For guests visiting the restaurant, when you arrive check in at the front door with our host.

I want to drive to your location, is there a parking garage near you?
A: Yes, there is a covered, well lit and attended parking garage across the street from us at 469 Eddy street.

Do you accept walk-ins for the communal bath?
A: We do accept walk-ins but due to our small size we strongly recommend making a reservation or calling us beforehand to check availability.

Do you have designated days for single-gender bathing?
A: Yes, we have times for single gender bathing. Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:15p is a Men's only bathing time and Thursday from 3:30p to 5:15p is Women's only bathing times.

Do I need to bring a bathing suit?
A: Yes, please bring a bathing suit on co-ed days (Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and Friday through Sunday). Bathing suits are not required on single gender bathing times. If you forget a suit, we have bathing suits available for purchase.

What amenities do you provide for bathers?
A: When you arrive we provide you with a towel, an Onsen towel (a roughly 12 x 30" towel, purchased at Onsens and Sentos in Japan) and a Japanese style robe. The amenities in the bath house include a 4 foot deep soaking pool, a dry redwood sauna, a steam room and cold plunge shower. Hot tea and water are also provided.

What noise level should I expect?
A: Our bath house is communal and social. We allow and encourage people to interact with their friends and their fellow bather. We ask that people keep their voices calm and to speak softly. Our coed days are usually a little more social than our single bather days.

How many people can the bath accommodate at once?
A: The capacity for our communal bath is 14 people.

What is your cancellation policy?
A:
For the bath house, we require prepayment for your visit but will refund the total amount if you call us 24 hours prior to your appointment. If you call us within the 24 hour period, we will reschedule you once. The restaurant has a 24 hour cancellation policy. No shows and cancellations under 24 hours for the restaurant will be charged $10 per guest. Massage and acupuncture treatment cancellation policies vary and are determined by individual therapists.

Can the bath/restaurant be booked for large groups?
A: Yes, we have several different options. Large parties can book the communal bath, reserve a prix fixe meal for up to 10 guests or rent out our entire space for an event. Please email us at info@onsensf.com for more information.

What is the best way to get to Onsen?
A: We suggest taking a ride share to our business due to limited street parking. There is a parking lot across the street which charges anywhere from $10 to $20. If you are taking public transportation, we are located 4 blocks from the Civic Center BART station.

Do you have a menu of all the treatments you provide?
A: No, the therapists that rent our space provide their own unique treatments. They each use different modalities according to each individual clients needs.

What time does the restaurant close?
A: The restaurant closes at 10:000 Wednesday thru Sunday. The restaurant is closed on Monday.

Is the restaurant open for lunch?
A: No, the restaurant only serves dinner and opens at 5:30.
